Through an upstream multisector approach to improve safety outcomes the Community Vital Signs, in collaboration with the Department of Public Health and Sheriff’s Department, support the provision of reentry program.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Transitional Assistance Reentry Team (S.T.A.R.T.) Program serves individuals ready to be released in accessing reentry services in an effort to decrease the likely hood of them re-offending. The program has helped 2,789 inmates, has placed 152 in additional serves, referred 258 to the Department of Behavioral Health, and 440 to the Probation Department.
The Department of Public Health and the Sheriff Department are part of the County-wide initiative of sectors who are working to improve health outcomes. By planning across health, safety, economy, and education sectors, Community Vital Signs is increasing safety throughout the county.
